if you're looking for this ambient compilation roots they lie in
the smooth sounds coming out of small backrooms at several clubs,
early in the 90's. downstairs was crowded four-on-the floor, but
upstairs you?d find dj's playing soft beats, ambient tunes, dub
tracks and stuff like that. a lot of people stuck their heads
round the door, had a quick listen and disappeared back
downstairs, never returned. but those who stayed...well, let's
just say that some of them are still addicted to this subgenre of
electronic music, called ambient and chill out. much has been made
of the new compilations hitting the market. the truth of the
matter is that the interest has always been there but it has taken
until now for a variety of record companies to compile some of
"the best" tracks onto nicely packaged albums with the word
chillout or ambient on the front. our decision was to compile a cd
in the spirit of original and respectful ambient. deep,
athmospheric and completely laid-back music. konvex | konkav drops
ambient interludes, soft downbeats, and smooth chillin tracks into
an exquisite after hour program.
tunes like oliver lieb?s legendary l.s.g. project or blackfish?s
athmospheric excursions of "unending" and "pole navigation".
there are blake c. with two great tracks and also an exclusive
eleven minute remix of rainer's impossibly beautiful, impossibly
rare remix of nod to n2o by the grid. the saafi bros. show up with
their chilled "into states of consciousness" as well as c.soehngen
does with his brilliant "un blocker". there?s the single cell
orchestra from san francisco with "knock out drops" and the sushi
club with his warm ,nigu-jaka".
we guarantee no podium filling anthems, nothing that ╖rocked it
out in ibiza", no balearic grooves. just real ambient and chill
out. this compilation reflects our philosophy.
