│ │
│ This is a circle sure to get around. The fine-tuned 12" features │
│ five songs from future roots originators. The Labrats shine │
│ alongside their positive music driven peers. in the loop 2 is │
│ sure to find wide acclaim amongst deep music fans with open │
│ ears. │
│ │
│ Prefuse 73 leads off the lovely scene with a stunning snippet of │
│ radiant folk. Opening with gentle strains that gracefully give │
│ way to buoyant bounce, this brilliant beat provides the perfect │
│ liftoff point for in the loop 2. │
│ │
│ dublab's own Nobody is a fitting, far-out figure to take the │
│ baton from Prefuse. He is a touring member of the live Savath & │
│ Savalas and Prefuse 73 experience as well as a production │
│ partner and pal of Scott Herren. Nobody's contribution gives │
│ listeners a sense of tumbling headfirst into his rare record │
│ collection. All the dust and magic of heavy 60's psychedelia │
│ rise to the surface, swirling into intoxicating colours. │
│ │
│ Daedelus (another dynamic dublab dj) keeps things rotating in │
│ perfect pace with a fine piece of cut and paste. His bubbling │
│ groove is strummed along by acoustic guitars and chipper chimes. │
│ Previously released on cd as part of Daedelus' The Quiet Party │
│ EP, this elastic epiphany quickly became a dj favorite. Now is │
│ the first time "A Touch of Spring" is available on gleaming │
│ vinyl. Our excitement is electric! │
│ │
│ On the flip, Build an Ark ascend in soulful streams. The cosmic │
│ jazz supergroup assembled and energized by dublab's Carlos Ni±o │
│ features elder masters alongside shining, young musical spirits. │
│ "Temple Jam" is an epic Nate Morgan composition created in a │
│ collective, live improvisation he lead on piano and keyboards. │
│ Pharoahs co-founder Derf Reklaw and LA's Afro-beat king Najite │
│ keep the beat popping with percussion while Dwight Trible's │
│ vocals soar above trombone notes by Tribe Records co-founder │
│ Phil Ranelin. Build an Ark has already seduced luminaries such │
│ as Gilles Peterson and Madlib. This appearance ensures more │
│ giant steps. │
│ │
│ Sa-Ra are the ultra-advanced production trio the world has an │
│ eye on, having already produced hits for Jurassic 5, Pharoahe │
│ Monch, Dr. Dre, NERD, and more. "Spaceways Radio Theme" is a │
│ future forward ode to Sun Ra. This whirling gem serves as the │
│ theme song for Carlos Ni±o's "Spaceways" radio program on KPFK │
│ 90.7fm in Los Angeles. The glowing circle is once again │
│ reinforced. In the Loop cross pollinates with another innovative │
│ venture, "UP OUR SLEEVE: the dublab covers project." This ever │
│ growing, traveling art experience features over 500 │
│ one-of-a-kind record sleeves by a global group of visual │
│ talents. Each In the Loop 12" installment draws its imagery from │
│ this awe-inspiring art collection. Kevin Ramos and Mary Maurer │
│ supply the complementary covers this time around. Let yourself │
│ get lost in the loop and you'll discover a wonderful world. │
