█ Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, █
█ Lil Kriz moved to Seattle in 1988 where █
█ he found himself drawn into the world of █
█ hip-hop. In 1989, he met his dj, DJ Tre, █
█ and started making freestyle tapes and █
█ taking them to school. "People were █
█ really feeling my music and encouraged █
█ me to keep doing it". After graduating █
█ from Garfield High School, the same █
█ school attended by musical legends Jimi █
█ Hendrix and Quincy Jones, Kriz returned █
       █ home to Detroit. █
       █ █
█ It wasn't until Kriz moved back to █
█ Seattle that his interest in music began █
█ to peak. With an interest in recording █
█ music, he enrolled in the Seattle Art █
█ Institute. Kriz committed his days to █
█ school, mastering everything there is to █
█ know about audio engineering. His nights █
█ were used to mingle with Seattle's best █
█ R&B and Jazz musicians who taught Kriz █
█ how to construct songs and make music. █
█ Two years later, Kriz graduated with a █
█ degree in audio engineering. █
       █ █
█ With a business loan, Kriz purchased █
█ keyboards, samplers, and professional █
█ recording gear. Lil Kriz produced, █
█ rapped, and released his first album, █
█ "Music Speaks Louder," in 1996 to great █
█ reviews with both local and national █
█ press. International rap publication, █
█ Murder Dog Magazine, featured Lil Kriz █
█ on their 2nd compilation cd with the █
       █ song "Maintain'n". With a regional █
█ consignment deal through Sam Goody, █
█ Tower Records, and every mom and pop █
█ store on the West Coast, Kriz managed to █
█ sell approximately 3,000 units of his █
