While waiting for the debut album by Berlin band "Phony", soon to be
released, called "Phony-Love" (recorded in Stockholm, Sweden),
Firestation Tower Records presents you this fantastic 7"/CDS. It's a
double A sider with songs "Good Times" and "Silent Place". Though the
musicians hail from Canada, GB and the USA Phony-songs have the sparkle
and charm of songs from Northern England. Thus in "Good Times" you'll
taste a melancholic flavour also to be found in works by Teenage
Fanclub, Ash and Travis. "Silent Place"- feat. Vivie Haddadene of
Capsule- and Trikot-fame is a huge surprise and already our "Single of
the Month". The song wonderfully combines the Phony-sound with latin pop
(Astrud Gilberto, Club 8) and finesse (Saint Etienne). Want even
more? On drums they've got Mr. Gonzalez of Le Hammond Inferno! The
CD-version feat. the additional "Long away" and the Capsule- remix of
"Silent Place".
