Release Notes:

With the influences of Townes Van Zandt and Cat Power hanging
around the studio during the recording of their third record,
Prescription Perils, the members of Minneapolis based The Winter
Blanket have carefully craft ten folk pop songs that are complete
and fearless in their honesty. Recording with Tom Herbers (The
Jayhawks, Low) this time around has greased the wheels of their
transition away from the stark and somber sounds that were more
dominant on their first two records, towards a more fluid and
emotional sound that is more in touch with it's immediate
surroundings. In addition to the generous use of hushed drumming,
warm bass tones, twilight piano and gently picked guitars, cello
and banjo have been introduced for the first time. The end result
is a much more dynamic record filled with memorable hooks and
understated pop melodies. It's the perfect companion piece for
both the snowed-in-late nights of frozen Minnesota and the hot
summer swells of the drifting Midwest.
