The Currymints : Like it Ocelot
The Currymints debut single, Like It Ocelot starts like a laid back
summer-time jam; acoustic guitar and keys fused together over a
steady groove, with free-form sax and flute playing call and
response. But over the breaks the live percussion builds, the bass
lets loose, funkin up every available space and the party starts.
Swirling synths join layers of brass to create a shimmering,
uplifting crescendo.
A tune thats impatient for an outdoor summer party to play it, but
with something new revealed on each listen, its a definite grower
anywhere.
777 : Ocelot Felis Paradilis Mix
777, whos Fire! and Sexy Ways went down a storm on the last 2 EPs,
provides the Felis Pardalis remix, the perfect foil for the A-side.
Taking the stripped-down bassline as its root, 777s Jon Kennedy
composes something darker, more atmospheric, more visual.
Dismembered parts of the original sax and flute melodies form new
hooks over raw drums whilst sombre guitar riffs and filmic piano
arpeggios create a more reflective, haunting tune.
