As both a solo artist and as a member of groups including Tangerine
Dream and Ash Ra Tempel, Klaus Schulze emerged among the founding
fathers of contemporary electronic music, his epic, meditative
soundscapes a key influence on the subsequent rise of the new age
aesthetic.
It is very difficult to speak of someone who literally started it
all, especially when I know that whatever good thing I say about
this genius of Electronic Music just won't do justice, and won't be
enough for a person who has had such an immense influence on the
musical scene as a whole, not only so-called 'EM' scene. This man
was always way ahead of his time, both musically and technically.
Review:
The music of "Body Love" remains a unique aural contribution to the
history of erotic film making. Sadly, music is often assigned the
role of mere background in most of such endeavors. It is rare that
music of such high quality is brought to the foreground of an adult
work, being highly integrated within the atmosphere of the overall
production.
Much as in the performance of modern dance piece, we witness that
music can evoke and mirror intimate aspects of the human condition
with an integrity that other artistic pursuits can rarely match.
Perhaps erotic behavior is at it's most powerful when offered in the
service of a significant story line which suggests the bonding of
souls. In this film by Lasse Braun, however, we are given a taste of
the capacity for pleasure within the context of unashamed sexual
intimacy and keenly zealous spirituality.
May we yearn for, and occasionally realize, moments of deep
interpersonal unity within our ongoing pilgrimage towards satisfying
human experience.
