Intec is known to many a fan of House and Techno as a scene leading label set
up by the iconic Carl Cox who has been at the forefront of DJ culture since the
early 90s.
With a roster of artists including the label boss himself plus Nicole Moudaber,
Jon Rundell, Marco Bailey, UMEK, Cristian Varela and Dosem amongst many others
of a similar calibre.
Intec welcomes back Irish born Ian O'Donovan who has featured music on labels
including Drumcode, Bedrock, Connaisseur, Tronic, KMS and Planet E. Making his
second release on the label, Ian who is known for his inventive and individual
production style presents four original tracks on this solo release.
First up is the tribal groove of Seeker which fuses fast flowing percussion
with a rolling bass line to create in infectious groove. Already full of
energy, the frantic lead synth helps create a sense of urgency thats instantly
captivating and perfect for the dancefloor. Peak time Techno at its best this
track should also appeal to fans of House who are looking for something with a
little extra bite.
The second track titled "Curium" is led by the pulsating bass line and busy
clap rhythm that intertwine with the rattling congas and rising chords. Get
ready to put your head down and punch the air with excitement, as this potent
slice of Techno will have you out of your seat and dancing round the room.
Third on the release is the deep pads and pitched toms of 99 that despite being
the most laid back track on the release still packs a punch. Simple in
structure, its a fine example of less being more, and the dramatic melody which
builds into a held chord adds an extra layer of tension. Master crafted with
just a touch of chic, this is Techno at its most classy.
Finishing off the release title track called Tomahawk. Arguably saving the best
till last, its muffled chords contrast gritty textures with the overlaying
glide of the lead synth. Getting more complex as it develops, the tracks epic
structure has a slightly cosmic vibe, soon brought back to earth by the hard
hitting and heavy percussion, which combined can only be described as peak time
Techno with an emotional edge.
