│║ I think people these days take themselves too ║ │
│║ seriously. This happened to be one of those ║ │
│║ albums that I read reviews about before actually ║ │
│║ hearing and figured I was in for something ║ │
│║ painfully and excruciatingly dreadful. However, ║ │
│║ what I got was actually something a lot better ║ │
│║ than I expected. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ To put it simply, this album is fun. Some of the ║ │
│║ things the other reviewers have said are true: ║ │
│║ 1. The production isn't very impressive ║ │
│║ (especially the drum production). 2. The vocals ║ │
│║ are at times pretty corny (and the lyrics ALWAYS ║ │
│║ are). 3. It does seem like the producer was in a ║ │
│║ hurry and that things didn't take years to put ║ │
│║ together. 4. There is a lack of rhythm riffs in ║ │
│║ certain parts of certain songs. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ However, so what? Isn't this metal we're talking ║ │
│║ about? Pretty much all of the negatives have ║ │
│║ been overstated. Supposedly there are "no ║ │
│║ redeeming qualities" here? ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Take a song like "Worshipping Bodies" for ║ │
│║ instance. No, I am not saying this because I ║ │
│║ haven't heard much speed or thrash metal, as I ║ │
│║ have heard more than plenty (yet still arguably ║ │
│║ never enough), but this song actually is a ║ │
│║ pretty damn good underground-sounding ║ │
│║ speed/thrash song. Around the 1 minute mark of ║ │
│║ the song is a melodic solo that changes pace of ║ │
│║ the song nicely. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ If it weren't for her gimmick and outlandish ║ │
│║ personality (and the claims she makes) in ║ │
│║ general, I think this album would be looked at ║ │
│║ much differently. ║ │
│║ Her vocals on songs like "gripping obsession" ║ │
│║ are actually pretty fitting shouts for a thrash ║ │
│║ metal type song. This isn't the heaviest album ║ │
│║ in the world and the production makes it sound a ║ │
│║ little weaker, but the riffs are definitely ║ │
│║ metal, and really most of the time not bad at ║ │
│║ all. ║ │

│║ I liked the short violin piece as well, as she ║ │
│║ is an extremely talented violinist. She's ║ │
│║ actually an extremely talented guitarist as ║ │
│║ well. I enjoy the overly-fast and short ║ │
│║ classical renditions. So you can watch an Yngwie ║ │
│║ Malmsteen video on Youtube and be like "SHE ║ │
│║ ISN'T AS GOOD AS HER FANS THINK OMG!"? Great. I ║ │
│║ don't care. I like Malmsteen, Michael Angelo- ║ │
│║ Batio, (especially) Rusty Cooley, and other ║ │
│║ shredders with more "credibility," but that ║ │
│║ doesn't mean that this girl can't flat out play ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ So, maybe Dela Vega can play Flight of the ║ │
│║ Bumblebees faster? Oh that's right, I don't ║ │
│║ care. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Again, the lyrics are ridiculous but, I wouldn't ║ │
│║ exactly claim speed/thrash metal to be a genre ║ │
│║ where one should expect "poets" so to speak. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ In closing, what you can expect is guitar ║ │
│║ renditions of classical compositions that may ║ │
│║ not be perfect but, are still neat sounding and ║ │
│║ worth listening to, and some numbers with some ║ │
│║ grungy speed/thrash metal and neoclassical ║ │
│║ shredding thrown in. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Maybe it is just because I can objectively ║ │
│║ analyze music without tying emotions to it? I ║ │
│║ don't know, but this isn't nearly as bad as ║ │
│║ everyone seems to think. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ Oh well, to each there own I guess. ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ and hey... ║ │
│║ ║ │
│║ This whole album is a lot thrashier than ║ │
│║ Annihilator ever were, and that's for sure. ║ │
