. .
. In some respects you could argue that this World Beat .
. Session is the ultimate in the series as it unites an .
. incredible diversity of music from the four corners of .
. the planet. Not only that but it contains some of the .
. freshest and most dynamic music being made right now, .
. with a few world beat classics thrown into the mix. .
. .
. We are talking 2 hours of cracking music from Senegal, .
. Nigeria, Brazil, Cape Verde, Morocco, Turkey, Spain, .
. Venezuela and numerous other destinations. Styles vary .
. from brassy Balkan beats to cool Latin drum & bass, hip .
. shaking Arabic vibes to hand-clapping flamenco flavours. .
. .
. These two CDs will give you the low-down on where World .
. Beat is right now and on how exciting things are. Take .
. for example Cesaria Evora remixed by Carl Craig - here we .
. have the barefoot diva of Sao Vicente with her glorious .
. soulful folk song remixed by one of the hippest .
. Detroit-based techno producers. It's difficult to imagine .
. this kind of remix happening a decade ago, but to result .
. in a crossover classic just demonstrates the potential. .
. Then there is the world-wide mega star Panjabi MC with .
. his hit 'Mundian To Bach Ke' Who, until recently, would .
. have thought such a track could be a top ten hit .
. Europe-wide?? .
. .
. All in all it's a fantastic time for World Beat and this .
. is a fantastic compilation showcasing the best in the .
. genre, so sit back and enjoy. .
