Ambient. Like I said many times before, is a genre
that is hard to describe - for it simply is too
diverse and aims at the inner feelings of the
listener. A review is therefore pretty hard to
write, at least, I think so. There are some
different kinds of ambient sub-genres. A darker
approach of the genre (like Vinterriket for
instance) or a more medieval kind of ambient like
Elffor or Mitternacht. Nebel Toroum belongs to the
last few. Music based on a medieval kind of music
with a lot of different instruments led by some
background layers of low-tuned keyboards. Horns,
battle drums, strings, flutes - all included.
Visions of castles and times long forgotten passes
your imagination. This album - nicely entitled
"Fallen Leaves Forgotten" - contains some great
tunes with great atmospheres - undoubtedly the
most important aspect in this kind of music.
Though, it lacks that little bit of coherence, the
feel that the compositions are true to each other
and definitely belong all together. But, maybe
there is some kind of a story behind it that
declares it. But it is not a point of criticism
that pulls down the album or annoys the least, but
it also prevents you from getting lost on a trip
through the inner self...
