One is you get to see many ║ │ │║ European and international bands on American ║ │ │║ soil. Bands that you might never see unless you ║ │ │║ went to Europe. A second great feature is that ║ │ │║ the promoters often coax a band to perform a ║ │ │║ full album, usually a fan favorite. Such is the ║ │ │║ case for Sweden's Seventh Wonder and their ║ │ │║ popular Mercy Falls album. Within Welcome To ║ │ │║ Atlanta Live, a 2DVD and 2CD set, the album is ║ │ │║ played in it's entirety, and we'll speak to the ║ │ │║ DVD recording in this review (which I'll try to ║ │ │║ keep brief). ║ │ │║ Seventh Wonder Welcome To Atlanta Live Band ║ │ │║ Photo ║ │ │║ Seventh Wonder Live ║ │ │║ Here's the thing about the ProgPower festival. ║ │ │║ It's about the music. When it comes to a light ║ │ │║ show or pyrotechnics, they're not high on the ║ │ │║ agenda especially when it comes to Seventh ║ │ │║ Wonder performing. Video recording, ║ │ │║ cinematography, and their direction is also ║ │ │║ rather minimalist. In this sense, the "video" ║ │ │║ part of the recording is almost like a ║ │ │║ documentary. But, wow, the sound recording is ║ │ │║ nearly immaculate. Excepting, at times, Tommy ║ │ │║ Karevik's vocals, every musician is heard with ║ │ │║ crisp clarity, notably Andreas Blomqvist on his ║ │ │║ six-string bass. But Seventh Wonder are some ║ │ │║ awesome musicians to begin with. As for the ║ │ │║ vocals, you'll probably have to lean on your ║ │ │║ familiarity of the album or at list have the CD ║ │ │║ booklet handy to follow along as Karevik's voice ║ │ │║ can be muted by the music. Nevertheless, the ║ │ │║ Mercy Falls performance is quite well down. ║ │ │║ Some additional comments. Some mention should be ║ │ │║ made of both the visual effects, grayscale old ║ │ │║ film footage overlay, at the beginning and end ║ │ │║ and the presence of actress playing the ║ │ │║ protagonist's wife in those moments. Also the ║ │ │║ encore is an unreleased studio song, Inner ║ │ │║ Enemy. This song along with The Promise are ║ │ │║ included on the second CD.
