Some African Style Guitar Reggae

African Guitar Summit features the finest Canadian guitarists of African origin.
Each an expert in their styles of music,
these guitarists are based in different parts of Canada.
They assembled in Toronto for three days of dazzling
individual showcases and electrifying collaboration.

The history of the guitar in Africa is perhaps,
one of the best examples of the cross-fertilization of music within that continent.
And of the ongoing "Feedback loop" of musical influences
back and forth between Africa and the Western hemisphere.
This complimentary flow of music and musicians continues to this day.
African Guitar Summit celebrates a diverse group of musicians
who have all brought musical gifts of their own to this country.

And what gifts they are: From Guinea,
the smooth fire of Juno Award winner Alpha YaYa Diallo,
with his countryman Naby Camara on balafon; from Ghana,
the elder master of the guitar, Pa Joe, with "golden voice" Theo Boakye,
and the heartbeat of drummer Kofi Ackah; From Kenya,
the Fiesta guitar of Professor Adam Solomon;
from Burundi/Rwanda, the bluesy Mighty Popo;
and from Madagascar the quicksilver guitars and harmonies of Donne Robert
and multiple Juno Award winner Madagascar Slim.

Enjoy
