born in jamaica,and raised in new jersey, desmond williams has been
experimenting with electronic music for nearly fifteen years. while
working with legendary dub engineer scientist, his unique and
highly intricate production style caught the ear of thievery
corporation and williams soon became an essential part of esl
studios. desmond engineered several cuts on the mirror conspiracy
as well as the new superb tracks from esl resident dj farid.
remixes include blue states' walkabout and thunderball's heart of
the hustler.
desmond's solo productions are steeped in dub reggae, funk,
afro-beat, brazilan rhythms and other eclectic sounds. his first
ep, theme from a dream caused a big stir in the downtempo community
and has been in constant play on the esl hi-fi. his latest 12", um
favor, has been a great segue into even more exotic sounds and
beats. this spring and summer should see at least two more 12"
releases from desmond and we hope to release a full-length by the
end of the year. keep your fingers crossed for that one.
