Release Notes:
For fans of Mojave 3, Holopaw, etc. Shortly after
releasing the House EP, The Idaho Falls took to band
headquarters at Red Rockets Glare Studio to begin
work on a full length follow-up to the Campfire LP.
They emerged several months later with Concrete
Prairie - a record that's as urban as it is rustic,
bathed in streetlights and cool desert moonlight, a
soundtrack for both Los Angeles and the Angeles
National Forest. Above all, it's the type of music
you would want on the stereo for a lazy drive
through Los Angeles and into the empty spaces that
lay beyond the city's great tangle. Way back in
2001, Raymond Richards (a member of Mojave 3 and the
Sid Hillman Quartet) and Heather Goldberg met and
discovered their shared love of the pedal steel
guitar and a host of classic country and indie rock
artists. Armed with a handful of songs and an aging
8-track, they hit the garage to create what would
become the first LP by The Idaho Falls, a name taken
from Raymond's home town. The two wasted little time
in filling out the band with a crew of like-minded
musicians featuring Greg Vincent on pedal steel
guitar, Roger Brogan on drums, Kevin Feyen on lead
guitar and Kevin Hite on bass. The Campfire LP was
very well received and helped to garner the band a
nomination for Best Country Band at the LA Weekly's
2003 Music Awards Show. The Big Takeover dubbed it
"an effortlessly gorgeous foray into country-tinged
pop" while The Los Angeles Times noted that "The
Idaho Falls seamlessly mix the sound of California
country pop with psychedelia and spaced out noise
[making] sweeping, traditional country pop, with
sweetly harmonizing male and female vocals and
gorgeous pedal steel sway." In 2004, the band
released their follow-up 4 song "House" EP. The
music of The Idaho Falls has been heard on college
and independent radio stations across the country
including Los Angeles stations like Indie 103.1,
KCRW and KXLU. The band has played extensively
throughout Southern California and has taken to the
road venturing as far north as San Francisco and as
far east as Las Vegas. Plans for an extensive tour
in support of Concrete Prairie are currently in the
works. Pay a visit to www.TheIdahoFalls.com for more
