│ Release #5 from Bastard Jazz focuses on the dub side of things. │
│ Much like the format of their previous releases, label regulars │
│ Jugoe and Spooky provide a track each, which then get remixed by │
│ 2 guests. Jugoe's "Collienation" is a clever take on the dub │
│ theme, filtering out the vocals, and proceeding at a disco pace. │
│ Well crafted and full of fun variations, this is the kind of dub │
│ that enlivens, not the kind that glues you to a couch. Guest │
│ Apenaut provide the remix for the track, opting to take the bass │
│ burping route a la "Sittin On Chrome." On the other end, Spooky │
│ Monkey, offers up "Drifter" a darker, moody piece with hints of │
│ western spaghetti. Dr. Rubberfunk proceeds to give it a shining │
│ with a squeaky clean funk take, replacing dark dubs for lively │
│ synths. Another solid release from these Brooklynites. │
