The Coffee Kids are comprised of Cricco Castelli and Gavin
Mills. This is their second collaboration, their first on
Illegal Beats.
The first track on the single is the prime "Voyager". It's
the type of track could find a place in most sets of the
house variety and not be out of place, I really dig this
tune! We are introduced via and padded house 4/4
drum-beat, dubbed percussion and a raw synth line bring us
into the body of the track. Into the breakdown the track
embodies a hypnotic feel achieved by synth swells and
spacey 80's-style-bleeps, these elements continue and
build into the second part of the track. After the second
breakdown the bleeps become shorter and we take a trip
down the jazzy road. A great track that balances
precariously somewhere on the fence of funky house and
tougher pastures.
The other track on the disc "Casa Loca" has your standard
dubbed-house drum kick, and deep rolling bassline and more
vocals that before. A quality production, the highlight
being the large guitar riff that merges into the bassline.
The uplifting strings at the end and the subtle vocal
"Loca" will make this track a hit with those favoring
Latin infused house without the cheese.
