The long wait is finally over. After months of delirious
anticipation and much to this reviewer's delight, Division Six have
finally released their amazing debut album, "The Age of Industry",
fully establishing that the postponment was well worth it.
The brilliant musical collaboration of John Seput and David Kizzia,
Divison Six has traversed an incredibly vast distance in an
astoundingly short amount of time. The duo are making a formidable
name for themselves, have proved their mettle to the utmost degree,
and are carving a deep and lasting home in the sometimes bland and
souless electronic music scene.
A band that carries the D.I.Y. ethic to the very limit and beyond,
Division Six is entirely self contained, and the result is
spectacular. "The Age of Industry" has exceeded all previous
expectations and is a masterpiece of epic proportions that delivers
on so many levels that is almost unbelievable. Nothing is left out
here.
The production quality is on a level that most major label releases
wish that they could achieve and barely ever do, the mastering of
the album was done with expert precision rarely found on a debut
release from a self produced band, and the musical compositions are
what can only be refered to as breath-taking.
The programming on "The Age of Industry" is superbly written and
executed with a finesse that one must experience for themselves to
feel the immense energy and genius which are focused into the nine
phenomenal tracks that make up the disc. The emotional, raw and
intelligently structured vocals and lyrics increase the
aforementioned intensity and combine to create strangely beautiful
and cohesive soundscapes that cd players were made for. This is food
for thought, and fuel for the mind, body, and soul.
I honestly can't pick a favorite track off of "The Age of Industry",
and to be fair to myself, the band, and the resplendency of the
entire album, I think it would almost be blasphemy to do so. Every
single song contains a distinct and surreal energy that
differentiates it from the other tracks, which each have a
undeniable power that pull you in with the force of the musical
equivlent of a black hole. There is no escape, once you have found
Division Six you are completely at their mercy, and anything but
total adherence is futile.
Without sounding too biased, and this is very hard for me, as I
honestly feel this is by far the best album to ever come across my
desk, Division Six are flawless. The music is very intense,
remarkably clever, and downright addictive. I can not say enough
good things about this album. If you are a fan of industrial rock,
you will love Division Six. "The Age of Industry" is hands down my
pick for best album of 2005 and I feel that they are artists you
absolutely need to pay attention to. You will not be sorry.
