█ The Lonely Bears recorded three albums in the █
█ early 90Æs, which were never released in the USA. █
█ Thankfully, progressive-rock label Magna Carta has █
█ reissued the first installment originally released █
█ on the ôPelican Sound Recordingsö label. Here, █
█ superstar drummer Terry Bozzio teams up with █
█ British session luminaries, Tony Coe (sax), Tony █
█ Hymas (kbrds) and guitarist Hugh Burns with a █
█ sound that borders fusion, jazz and world music. █
█ Bozzio provides the framework with his now, █
█ legendary tom-tom patterns which are often █
█ melodic, rhythmically complex, polytonal, not to █
█ mention polyrhythmic........All encompassing as █
█ some might say.... Mighty fine compositions █
█ coupled with thoughtful soloing and cohesive █
█ ensemble work make this recording a sheer delight. █
█ ôThe Lonely Bearsö are about veteran and highly █
█ esteemed session musicians airing it out a notch █
█ or two more than most would expect. ItÆs about █
█ unity and a firm sense of ôgroupö direction as the █
█ compositions run the gamut from being ethereal, █
█ subversive or going for the jugular. A great band, █
█ a great record! █
