Release Notes:
Tyson Deines formed HLC in 2002 when his previous effort, Bring
Back Joel, disbanded after slugging it out for almost ten years in
the Orlando music scene. BBJ had grown a cult following, won
"Punk Band of the Year" at the 1999 Florida Music Festival, and
played with such credible indie acts as Superchunk and Poster
Children. Shortly after Bring Back Joel, Tyson got together a
group of local musicians (including Travis Adams of My Hotel Year)
to record Heroic Lane Change's debut album "The Golden Ratio" and
the Orlando Weekly named them The Best New Act of 2003 before they
relocated to Los Angeles (go figure).
Mike Levin, Tyler Grey, and T.A.R.O. make up this rock trio (hence
the three people) and self-released "The Low Road" in spring 2002.
They have toured the South, the East, the Southeast, and some
eastern parts of the North. Prior to The New Lows, Mike played in
Shyster who was a punk band that released albums on Man's Ruin and
Off-Time Records. They have also done part of the southeast
Warped Tour, and gone on the road nationally with Lagwagon, Diesel
Boy, SNFU, and Face to Face. Tyler has toured nationally with
Bloodlet, a band on Victory Records. The New Lows will have a
track on Deep Elm's spring release of "This is Indie Rock."
This 7inch is Volume I of the Playing Around With Music series, by
Slow January Records.
