 │  One of Scotland's highly tipped 80s pop exports, Goodbye Mr Mackenzie     │
 │  combined the emotive songwriting style of fellow Scots Deacon Blue or     │
 │  Del Amitri, with inspiring guitarwork by "Big" John Duncan. They formed   │
 │  in Edinburgh in 1986 and additionally featured Martin Metcalfe (vocals,   │
 │  guitar), Rona Scobie (keyboards, vocals) and Shirley Manson (keyboards,   │
 │  vocals), Chuck Parker (bass) and Derek Kelly (drums). A debut single,     │
 │  "The Rattler", appeared on the Precious Organisation label (also home to  │
 │  Wet Wet Wet's first releases) in September 1986 and attracted a degree    │
 │  of attention, earning them supportive press and several radio sessions.   │
