as one half of ecosanti (alongside radio 1's bobby friction) he's
bagged a top 10 on the positiva imprint, but thankfully for us
infinite scale isn't the kind of thing that's likely to be
infiltrating the upper reaches of the charts anytime soon. giving
a nod to both the more leftfield dancefloors and the hordes of
headphone home listeners, 'sound sensor' is an amblicated
cold-fusion of electronica, electro, hip-hop and idm all of which
are coaxed into an effervescent whole. opening proceedings is the
gm modified electro of 'acoustic snails' which, in just under 7
minutes, manages to obliquely fuse padded electro-breaks with an
ambient touch that introduces a set of eastern percolated beats
and pink hued, sunset vistas towards the end. undoubtedly the most
upfront of 'sound sensor's' offerings, 'acoustic snails' unravels
into a kind of wide-eyed electro, while slowing it down
considerably is 'ghost' which chooses a set of clicky, thick cut
beats to underpin the membrane of analogue lustre which bubble to
the surface in slowly arching formations. 'plrkel', meanwhile, is
a penetratingly panegyrical fusion of light instrumental touches
which conspire to become far more than the sum of their parts.
finishing off with the milky hip-hop of 'fade' and the ominous
digital shredder of 'jawbreak', 'sound sensor' is another solid if
not entirely grounbreaking release from the toytronic crew.
