Ned Moore

All songs written and composed by Jason Fox and Ned Moore

-----------
Recorded over the course of nearly a year, moving between studio
work with producer Brooce Templeton (Volante) and extensive home-
recorded overdubbing, every note on the densely layered What It
Takes To Wake Up is played by either Fox (lead vocals, bass,
drums, keyboards, guitar) or Moore (backing vocals, keyboards,
guitar). From the opening moments of the album, on which a
descending anthemic guitar riff crashes into a wave of cymbal-
strafed harmonies and then gives way to a ghostly electric piano
figure, it's clear that plenty of thought was put into every
second of the recording and arrangements.

Expertly balancing rock bombast with more chilled-out, trance-
heavy moments, Hello Blue has managed to make a record that could
appeal to fans of both Braid and the Sea and Cake. The guitars are
just as likely to throw down a bone crunching power chord as bust
out a clean, arpeggiated riff, the lengthy songs ready to swing in
any direction (an unexpectedly rollicking outro, a funky bridge)
at a moment's notice. The fact that I can't really make out what
Fox's semi-mumbled/semi-shouted vocals are carrying on about
hardly matters - Hello Blue's sound is so enveloping I'm already a
slave to their beat, whatever lyrical meaning may be buried in the
mammoth musical mix. (pulsetc.com)
