'ear dis launch another double a-sided exploration into the genre
twisting, sonic embodiment of roxy "arms" harris & elroy
"spoonface" powell.
's.o.s' and 'link dat yat' are two, slick, fresh and very diverse
singles.
's.o.s' is a gritty soca-sodden beast, with a strong afro-beat
inclination at its heart. spoonface herds this monster through its
journey with his vivacious sing-jay styled delivery, whilst arms
brings his trademark percussive creativity to the mixing pot. the
result is another solid example of what lies ahead, as a release
date for the anticipated 'ear dis album threatens to surface soon.
'link dat yat' presents a modern tale of real life, boundaries,
opportunism and good old-fashioned lust. elements of 80's brit
funk filter through the few gaps in this multi-layered
broken-percussion styled adventure.
arms demonstrates his diversity as he lets loose on the drum kit
whilst singing his side of the story in verse 2, with spoonface
delivering his chocolate vocals and unique, lyrical spin
throughout.
