three highly sought after and amazing remixes from kenny dixon jr.
aka moodymann of kdj & mahagoni fame & detroit techno legend,
kenny larkin (art of dance, plus 8, warp, tvt, peacefrog, r&s) of
r&b & jazz sensation sade. the kenny larkin mixes of sade's "i
never thought" is probably one of the most emotive works ever
heard from this detroit icon. he fuses the soul of sade w/the
smoothness & analog spirit of his metaphor release. naked music
delivers in their classic smoothy style. a really low key, deep,
atmospheric mix. moodymann drops the deepest of deep house
w/smooth arrangements & essential late night grooves, taking the
magic of his early kdj releases & mixing them flawlessly with
heavenly vocals from sade. these 12"s have gone individually for
$100s on ebay and this is the first time these mixes have been
featured on one record.
it turns out that the first two mixes on this 12" aren't by kenny
larkin and moodymann, but are actually by hani and naked music. we
still kept the naming as listed on most websites, being unsure
which would've created bigger confusion.
though we agree on the rather poor cutting quality of the record,
we disagree on the rip quality ute provided previously. as this rip
proves, it can be done a lot better without too much effort.
