The debut release by
Marspiter, "Ultionis" (the
latin word for revenge) on
Somnambulant Records is
a nostalgic blend of
Neoclassical, Martial and
Dark Ambient. Fans of
The Protagonist, In
Slaughter Natives and Der
Blutharsch take heed.
This is a Roman themed
Instrumental album. All of
the titles are appropriately
in Latin. The might and
grandeur of ancient Rome
is covered in sheets of
dust and debris. Jove and
Mars lurk behind walls of
manufactured sound.
This release is effectively
evocative in it's suggestion
of imagery. On "Immanitas
Legionis" we hear
Caesar's Legions rise from
the tenebrous mists of
time, eagles still held high
