█ R:I:P (or Raw Intense Power if you can be bothered █
█ to write it longhand) play a hybrid style of █
█ metal, mixing half-thrash with traditional steel. █
█ Or so they say. They don't stop there though, they █
█ also decided to throw in some death metal with █
█ some power metal leads... and yes, it does come █
█ out as confused as you might imagine. █
█ Sure there's a lot of variation here, but it just █
█ doesn't work. To top it off, there's an occasional █
█ leaning toward the later-Pantera like groove thing █
█ (Jesus, sometimes it's so bad it sounds like █
█ Damageplan) and a definite liking of the later-In █
█ Flames synthesizer abuse which ain't so hot █
█ either. There are a few later Metallica-like vocal █
█ choruses which doesn't exactly leave a good █
█ aftertaste either. For the positives, yeah there's █
█ some smoking leads... But that's about all I can █
█ muster I'm afraid, so back to the negatives. The █
█ tempo is upped in 'Crawling Through Broken Glass', █
█ which at times sounds a little like Dew Scented, █
█ just a little though, as it soon hits a dubious █
█ breakdown with these whiny guitars and 'boobidy █
█ boo' Soilwork synthesizers turning it from █
█ tough-guy to the █
█ gayest-thing-since-gayness-came-to-gaytown in a █
█ microsecond. █
█ So yeah, this really isn't up my street at all. █
█ It's not even in the same town, country or █
█ universe. I definitely would class it as metal, █
█ but it dips its toe into the cesspool of mallcore █
█ on too many occasions for my liking. Not great. █
