:: Release Notes:
::
:: "Fresh off a U.S. tour, Seattle's indie absurdists Minus The
:: Bear have rejoined Suicide Squeeze, following an interlude
:: with Arena Rock, for their second full-length, due out August
:: 23. Abandoning their past modus operandi of
:: titling-as-homage-to-buffoonery-i.e. 2002's Highly Refined
:: Pirates and 2004's They Make Beer Commercials Like This-the
:: band has settled for an almost self-titled album: Menos El
:: Oso (Minus the Bear en espa±ol). Oso is Minus The Bear's
:: first self-produced record, which, singer Jake Snider says,
:: "allowed us to bounce ideas off one another without having to
:: worry about the ego of a producer sitting there." It may have
:: also helped that keyboardist Matt Bayles is a producer who
:: has worked with Isis, Mastadon and the Blood Brothers.
:: Recorded in and around Seattle, the new album promises to be
:: more refined than the group's past outings, with a flurry of
:: vocal, keyboard and electronic embellishments (and less songs
:: from Snider about drinking and girls)."
