Release Notes:
--------
James William Hindle's third album, Town Feeling, is named after a Kevin Ayers'
song (from his debut solo record Joy Of A Toy), a title that reflects Hindle's
recent transition from the bustling Notting Hill area of West London to the more
tranquil surrounds of the Yorkshire countryside. The lure of a city remains
strong, however, and James soon found himself locked away in the same Brooklyn
studio where he recorded his second album, the acclaimed Prospect Park (Badman,
2003), reuniting with guitarists Neil Cleary and Kevin Barker (Currituck Co.),
and Gary Olson and Julia Rydholm of The Ladybug Transistor. Other collaborators
at the sessions include Otto Hauser (Espers), Andy Cabic (Vetiver) and James
Huggins (Of Montreal).

Since first coming to the attention of Badman Recording Co. via his submission
to the Mark Kozelek compiled John Denver 'tribute' album, Take Me Home, the past
few years have seen Hindle perform on both sides of the Atlantic touring with a
host of break- through artists. Recent UK appearances with the likes of Devendra
Banhart, Six Organs of Admittance, The Shins, Damien Jurado, Archer Prewitt, and
The Decemberists illustrate the wide appeal of his folk-tinged, mellow pop
stylings.

Hindle is featured on two upcoming compilations albums; Rough Trade Records
'Singer Songwriter' set, alongside Beck, Cat Power, Richard Thompson, Smog, Nick
Cave and Elvis Costello, and Durtro/Jnanas benefit album for AIDS sufferers in
Africa, 'Medicins Sans Frontieres', featuring contributions from Will Oldham,
Current 93, Jim O'Rourke, Devendra Banhart, Linda Perhacs, Vashti Bunyan,
Thurston Moore, Matmos and Richard Buckner among many others. James has recently
been invited to play guitar on the new album by Current 93 along with other
guest musicians Will Oldham, Shirley Collins, and Marc Almond.

For his upcoming US tour, Hindle will perform with Neil Cleary and the duo will
play shows on the East Coast before heading West to open for Bart Davenport.
Previous tours of the States have seen James accompany The Essex Green, Ladybug
Transitor, Of Montreal and The Sixth Great Lake.
Reviews
"The term "plainspoken" is often used as a euphemism for "simpleminded," but for
James William Hindle that's not the case at all. The British songwriter's third
record revels in straightforward melodies, minimalist arrangements (despite a
squadron of indie folk and pop luminaries as backup) and Hindle's unaffected
singing. Some wags might argue that Town Feeling is a bit too unambitious, even
facile, in its blatant amiability. It's unlikely, though, as tunes like "Seven
Hours," "Birthday Candles" and "Love You More" would melt the coldest heart." -
Michael Toland, High Bias

"Many of the songs are delicately rendered, investing the music with a feeling
of being homespun and honest. Hindle is not full of himself, showy, or overly
quaint in his music - no "see-how-clever-I-am" wordsmithing or
"watch-my-fingers-fly" guitar picking mars Town Feeling. Because of this lack of
ostentation, Hindle comes off as a sort of everyman, who just happens to know
how to layer some affecting melodies over his simple tales. After all, this is a
guy who chose to smile on his album cover instead of going for the
brooding-artist affectation that others might have chosen. I think that says a
lot in itself." - Delusions of Adequacy
