               The legendary Eric Lunde...he
               fascinated everyone with these
               awfully original sound
               experiments since the early
               eighties, inspired people like
Joe Colley of Crawl Unit and Jeph
Jerman. He had been making odd
works that can honestly be called
               groundbreaking. Then, at some
               point, he just quit and
               disappeared to somewhere out
               there in that vast, generic
               American landscape. When You Wish
Upon a Scar is a collection of
               pieces from 1983 to 1991,
               perfectly displaying this artists
range of work and style. Amusing
               pieces like 'Fastest Tape Player'
are funny when you read the liner
               notes, but also serve to
               demonstrate Lunde's guerrila
               sound style, his lo-fi asthetic.
               Haunting reverbrations and voices
loop into vast webs of soft
confusion on 'Cock 0' and 'Cunt
               0'. 'The Colorado Terrain
               Investigation' is malevolent
               location recordings taken from a
               double seven-inch release on RRR
               in 1988. There's a whole slew of
               historical work here, but the
               record is just basically a
               fascinating listen from end to
               end. Somehow tense, somehow funny
               in places, but always unexpected
               and grotesque. A buried treasure
               of dizzying sonic delights and
               nightmares. Comes with a long,
               very explanatory book with essays
about Lunde by Jerman and Colley.
