│ After a convincing first release from the Dutch electronics │
│ label Sending Orbs, it's time for a less known artist in the │
│ same genre. With Kettel as a first outburst, one can hardly │
│ miss: musically as well as the sales numbers were much higher │
│ than the guys of Sending Orbs could hope for. Now one of │
│ Kettel's friends gets the opportunity to present his magic. A │
│ beautifully designed album is going to help him with that. │
│ Secede is also known as Lennard van der Last and this isn't his │
│ first release. 'Bye Bye Gridlock Trafficö, for example, is one │
│ of his creations, released on Merck. Secede makes music in the │
│ same style as Kettel, but knows how to give his sound a very │
│ personal twist. The songs presented on 'Tryshaslaö are all very │
│ serene and can be categorized as easy listenable, spherical │
│ electronics. Complex song structures are wrapped up in beautiful │
│ and pleasant melodies. Secedes tracks are overall a bit less │
│ complex and more mainstream than stuff of some fellow electronic │
│ artists. The interesting thing that Secede puts in his music, is │
│ the fact that his songs are very nicely interweaved. │
│ 'Tryshaslaö listens like a fairytale. The songs are perfectly │
│ merged. Even to such an extend, that one can't really listen to │
│ the songs separately. The voices and noises in æThe Realms Of │
│ Sanda', for example, are very hectic and overwhelming. If this │
│ song wasn't sandwiched between æLeraine' and æThe King Of │
│ Sanda', it would have been quite unlistenable. │
│ While listening to this album, I keep seeing images of that │
│ beautiful Japanese anima movie æSpirited Away'. It isn't until │
│ the third track (earlier mentioned æLeraine') that the first │
│ cautious beats are introduced. This song is brought to us in │
│ cooperation with Kettel and it is absolutely the best track of │
│ this audible journey. │
│ When we get to the end of the album, I personally think that the │
│ music gets a bit too soft, but maybe that's just because the │
│ fairytale has to have an ending as well. The lovely piano │
│ playing in æTerata Shrine' gives me convincing goose bumps │
│ however. │
│ Overall, this is a real musical treat, in which the listener is │
│ taken on a great voyage though the land of Sanda. The artwork of │
│ Jeroen Advocaat contributes a lot to the mood, just as it did │
│ with the first release of Sending Orbs. Luckily this time he │
│ gets the opportunity to deliver a few more paintings, because │
│ the booklet is now eight pages. With 'Tryshasla', Secede has │
│ created a perfect ægoodnight, sleep tight' album. And I'm really │
│ looking forward to Sending Orbs third release. Because if they │
│ stay in this spherical kind of electronics, this can't go wrong. │
