Rebegin is not directly tied to
any Neurosis work, but the band
has recently brought the two
works closer together. Silver
Blood Transmissions, the
counterpart of Neurosis Through
Silver In Blood, was the first
step in bringing the two
together. The two records
together are to be looked at as
direct results of each other.
Neurosis will soon be releasing
Times Of Grace and Tribes of
Neurot s Grace. These records
will take the vision one step
further. The records can be
viewed as separate works unto
themselves but they can also be
played together (yes, that
means blasting one record on
one stereo and the other on a
second at the same exact time)
to see how the groups can work
together. The records are a
tremendously ambitious project
that will be an exciting use of
counterpoint. Think of how an
orchestra will play more than
one part at once. The
woodwinds will play one melody
while the brass will play
another. In this case, the
records will interact with each
other simultaneously just an
orchestra does but unlike the
orchestra, one part can be
removed to reveal something
very unique on it s own.
One of the very interesting
things about Tribes of Neurot is
that on it s own, the music is a
tremendous piece of work. The
can not only appeal to fans of
Neurosis, but fans of ambient
and industrial music. Fans of
some of John Zorn s more avant
guard work and Mike PattonÆs
solo material would also enjoy
Tribes of Neurot since it lacks
the heavy metal feel that
Neurosis has. Regardless of
your tastes however, the
projects show that Neurosis and
Tribes of Neurot are far more
than progressive heavy metal
