ESSENTIAL BREAKS TUNE (Leftfield / Breaks Reviews)
Berlin's David Skiba dons his Bomb 20 guise, and takes you on a life
threatening trip, around the heavy side of town.
The title cut 'Blood Money' is the biggest steamrollin' breaks
track I've heard since Depth Charge came up with 'Bounty Killer'.
It opens with a film clip, then the bass and drums come bounding in.
crushing and destroying everything in their path, before jacknifing into
a manic dancehall, hell bent on crack and heading straight for burnout.

Further lessons in hip hop noise-core courtesy of Berlin's cut 'n' paste
maestro David Skiba, aka Bomb 20, a man who's got a temper and is not afraid
to share it. Take the heavy sonic distortions and shapeshifting electro
bounce of 'Blood Money' and 'Leisure'. Or the frenetic load and fire
sampling of 'Kids'. Disorientating, deranged and demented in equal part.

Characteristically way off centre and playing at a party in the next galaxy,
Bomb 20's "Blood Money E.P" sonically twists his electronic instruments
around the most loose Hip Hop outline possible. "Blood Money" itself has
a bit of a cluttered feel, as cinematic strings, scrunching FX, strutting
percussion and questioning vocals vie for attention. "Lina" is a wonderful
little lovelorn piece featuring the jilted vocals of Hanayo, where digital keys
curtsey, body popping percussion does its thing on the floor and the dirty
analogue bass comes on like a slice of dancehall ragga. "Leisure's" drums
crush all in its way, while the synth screws up heads and scared keys hide
timidly in the corner. "Kids" is sample spotting time, and the tirade of spoken
cuts is only punctured by excruciating reverbing synths and bastardised FX.
