Here's a fine, rather edgy album by a Japanese band that I
really didn't know anything about until I read the notes &
started to realize who the players were. It's an all
instrumental trio of Natsuki Kido (Bondage Fruit) on guitar,
drummer Yasuhiro Yoshigaki (ROVO, Altered States, etc.) and
keyboardist Kazuto Shimizu, (O-U, Lars Hollmer's SOLA) who is
the leader of the band & wrote all the compositions. There is
violin on two tracks by Yuriko Mukoujima, who also plays in
SOLA. The music ranges from wild, heavy, post M.M.W.
Hammond-trio workouts to almost Bill Frisellian atmospherics to
more typically Japanese-style avant prog that at times gets
very heavy. [Tutinoko]
