A is for Algorithm "Puzzle to a Picture, Ambient Works Vol.1"-
-the tongue in cheek album title named after the Aphex Twin
album is similiar but very much its own record.
Dense sound manipulation, ambient orchestrations and collage,
all heavily textured layers of sound. All the tracks represent
a short passage in time of a larger picture.
This CD is an experiment in sound manipulation. Highly textured
stereo sounds, dense ambience, abstract beats even some vocoder
as well. Subtleties perhaps easily missed will begin to shift
and bend. I recommend listening to this on nice headphones in a
dark room on a submarine.
From the CD back:
"The only instrument used on this recording was an acoustic
drum set. A single drum beat was manipulated with effects to
form the sounds and melodies you hear without using any
sampling. The sound manipulation was all done on a single
track without the use of multiple tracks to layer sounds. It
was an attempt to create complexity from the most simple, and
to abstract the sound of a single acoustic instrument into an
array of electronic sound. Thank You for listening."
