│ New subsidiary of Dan 'The Automator' Nakamura's 75 Ark label, │
│ CeLLDiViSioN unleashes SPLaTTeRCeLL's 'ReMiKSiS'. Pivoting │
│ around the creative centre of multi-instrumentalist David Torn, │
│ the project is one of grainy aural warps and discordant │
│ dynamics. Featuring reinterpretations by Charlie Clouser of Nine │
│ Inch Nails, Gareth Williams, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Nakamura │
│ himself, a growing sense of dread courses through its six │
│ tracks. With 'Dubsplat', Clouser plunges headfirst into │
│ throbbing synthesis, disturbed voices echoing against transient │
│ walls of noise, before Williams unleashes a swarm of electric │
│ bees over 'Was Love's piledriving bass, eventually giving way to │
│ Sakamoto's womb-like reverberations, laced with vexed guitar │
│ chords and nailscrape effects. Meanwhile, The Automator's │
│ 'Cutting' mix percolates a dense brew of timpani, electrostatic │
│ squeals and flute lines as 'Teksplat' sees Clouser return with a │
│ labyrinthine burst of scouring kinaesthetics preceding the │
│ submerged striations of Torn's hypnotising original." │
