   :  Given that this guy's stagename is Fuck Buddies and he   :
   :  has performed alongside Xiu Xiu, a quiet album of soft   :
   :  crooning and acoustic strumming is probably the last     :
   :  thing you're expecting -- but that's exactly what        :
   :  Frenchman SΘbastien delivers here. His name and          :
   :  credentials suggest a more abrasive or experimental      :
   :  sound, but SΘbastien's music is surprisingly heartfelt   :
   :  and sincere.                                             :
   :  It's a good thing, too, because his lyrics are hard      :
   :  enough to take without any added squalls of noise        :
   :  drilling them into your skull. "You fell in love with    :
   :  whores just to feel something hard", he sings in "Sorry  :
   :  For the Lack of Clean Drinking Water" -- and it's one    :
   :  of the album's happier moments! "I Never Met Your Twin"  :
   :  is about staying in a relationship with an abusive       :
   :  boyfriend ("I will fuck this guy just in case he likes   :
   :  me"). "You Gotta Be Kidding" has only one line, but      :
   :  it's so disturbing -- "You came home late the night of   :
   :  your birthday drunk and alone, with cuts and bruises on  :
   :  your arms" -- that the resulting mental image is almost  :
   :  impossible to shake. "Liver" is about suicidal mother,   :
   :  "Ces bras gigantesques" deals with a lover's empty       :
   :  affection, and "For The Painfully Alone" essentially     :
   :  describes where SΘbastien got his stage name. It's       :
   :  compelling stuff, but also exceedingly bleak and         :
   :  depressing. Consider yourself warned.                    :
