| | The flag bearers of the new breakbeat scene, JDS (real names | |
| | Julian Napolitano and Darren Pearce), finally unleash their first | |
| | album, and the waiting has been worthwhile... | |
| | | |
| | æThe Adventures Of The Purple Funky MonkeyÆ is a collection of | |
| | tracks that vary in style from your breaks/house hybrids to your | |
| | more downbeat almost Depth Charge sounding tracks; the production | |
| | is particularly good with JDS and this makes the sound stand out | |
| | miles from the 90 percent of other artists in the same genre. | |
| | | |
| | 'The Adventures Of The Purple Funky Monkey' is a total crossover | |
| | between acid, funk, disco, rock and progressive, spread over | |
| | sixteen tracks, with the biggest torments of the last two years | |
| | as well as some valid new tracks. The mythical ôBlackoutö, | |
| | ôPurple Funky Monkeyö and ôDisco Rockersö spice up the album but | |
| | beautiful also are surprises like ôDirty Funkö, the highly funky | |
| | ôThis Is Kaliforniaö, the punk-electro ôRockstarö or the | |
| | downtempo ôBreezinÆö and ôZeonö. | |
| | | |
