│ "Insofar as abuse is a word that correlates with excess, we │
│ think of ourselves as being excessively concerned with │
│ interjecting substance into the music we present. But given the │
│ overiding tendency towards homogeneity that governs music (and │
│ the world for that matter, of which music is merely a │
│ microcosm), one could argue that our name derives from the │
│ simple fact that we take abuse for having substance, that is, we │
│ are castigated for our reluctance to lend sanction to this │
│ deplorable state of affairs. Seeing as how the juxtaposition of │
│ the words "substance" and "abuse" could be construed as a union │
│ of opposites because of the positive and negative connotations │
│ that each word respectively holds, the term also signifies our │
│ willingness to embrace the polarities implicit in embarking on │
│ this rigid path towards the fulfillment of our goals. This is │
│ not to say we romanticize adversity, to the contrary, it is │
│ merely a declaration of our refusal to be deterred from │
│ acheiving what w e set out to do from day one:make music we │
│ believe in." │
