First of Earthly Delights comes from Rotterdam-based collective Y°r
Kultura. Odyssey EP is a record inspired by the trioÆs travels, bringing
together a variety of sounds from across the globe. The EPÆs title is
wholly appropriate as Y°r Kultura take you on an adventure covering a
soundscape that travels from West Africa all the way to India.
The opening track, æBlack MarketÆ, incorporates tribal drums loops, native
strings and a rumbling cloud of darkness that builds and builds into a
force of nature. Tight reverberating plucked notes echo out throughout the
journeys entirety adding a slight eerie atmosphere to the production.
æNomadsÆ sets off at similar pace with a flurry of kicks and acid touches,
before elements of the track are slowly extracted just leaving behind the
hypnotic lush pads. Hanging vocals appear just as the final climax stands
up tall, the pulsating bass line and syncopated claps driving you onwards.
Finally, the title track is a real Odyssey as Y°r Kultura add layer upon
layer to create an almighty crescendo of fierce percussion, sonic booms and
chanting that slowly filters off into the horizon.
