fter the death of legendary New Orleans songwriter Allen Toussaint in 2015,
drummer Stanton Moore suspended plans for an upcoming trio album and opted
instead for a sprawling Toussaint tribute featuring top-of-the-line guests. The
result captures ToussaintÆs eclectic and life-affirming spirit with a mix of
vocal and instrumental numbers. Trombone Shorty looms large, as do trumpet
virtuoso Nicholas Payton and the great Maceo Parker and Cyril Neville. The
acoustic-piano trio version of ôWith You in My Mindö is something to savor.
