█ Two years after their latest namesake release, █
█ Italian Gothic band ECNEPHIAS publish their latest █
█ work, ôThe Sad Wonder of the Sunö, out for My █
█ Kingdom Music. Mancan majestic vocals start off █
█ this LP with ôGitanaö, backed by Sicarius █
█ keyboards which will be a key part of this █
█ release, as well as the band general sound. After █
█ this melancholic opener, ôPovo de Santoö will see █
█ LA JANARA female singer Raffaella Cangero in █
█ dialogue with Mancan; in ôSad Summer Nightö dark █
█ wave elements make their way to the surface and █
█ distill a fine track, with a catchy chorus and █
█ technical showoffs of the band skills. █

█ ôThe Lampö moves along a faster tempo and between █
█ synths and catchy elements weaves dreamy into the █
█ next ôNouvelle Orleansö, a surprising Latin upbeat █
█ hot touch. On the other hand, ôA strangerö with █
█ clean guitars introduces the listener to a █
█ decadent and gloomy atmosphere and a sort of █
█ spiritual ascension in the end. We sense dark wave █
█ influences in the following ôQuimbandaö, which █
█ turns out to be a theatrical dark goth track, █
█ simple in the structure yet well rendered in the █
█ results. Italian vocals, once again in a █
█ male-female vocals dialogue, give this track a █
█ plus. █
█ ôMaldilunaö with acoustic guitars in the intro and █
█ in the chorus, is a pensive melancholic dirge, █
█ once again in ECNEPHIAS mother tongue. ôYouö █
█ closes the platter with an interesting mix of pop, █
█ electronics and dark forceful tunes, as this ôThe █
█ Sad Wonder of the Sunö did for the last 50 mins. █

█ This is an album to slip into dreams with, with █
█ ECNEPHIAS Mediterranean touch to warm the hearts █
█ of the listener; if flaws must be found some more █
█ effort could be spent in the production, not █
█ always on a A-level, but, most of all, a bit of █
█ delay, as a release like this couldÆve been a █
█ direct hit if released in much more fertile times █
█ for the genre. █
