Following last year's well received limited debut EP
'Transition', Manchester's The Longcut release a second EP,
'A Quiet Life', in advance of starting work on their debut
album. Sounding like a sonic fusion of baggy indie and New
York punk-funk, 'A Quiet Life' is an inspired piece of
scenester-dance, which has been awarded 'Track Of The Week'
by the NME.

By the time The Longcut play set-closer A Quiet Life, the
audience is invariably in overdrive.
As singer/drummer Stuart Ogilvie beats his tambourine and
stares out at the audience, shoes, glasses, drinks, hearts,
and minds are lost to the mosh pit.
If you thought the astonishing debut EP Transition was a
fluke, think again - A Quiet Life is an injection of pure
adrenaline.
"A Quiet Life came together around the time we were running a
club night with friends, so that kind of atmosphere rubbed
off on the track," says bassist Jon Fearon. "We wanted to
play with a more full-on dance tune than we'd done before,
but it turned out to be a little bit twisted."
A Quiet Life comes with two typically storming back-up
tracks: DVT and Dead Man. Ear twisting sound-scapes that
highlight the experimental nature and the wide sonic ranges
the group revel in so well.
Now gigging extensively around the UK, The Longcut are
building their reputation on their heart-stoppingly thrilling
stage show. Having ditched their search for a lead singer in
the band's formative months, Stuart yelps like a man
possessed at stage front and adds live drums to the insistent
electronic beats behind the kit. It's an intense, consuming,
formula that wowed onlookers across two continents - a recent
performance at South By South West in Texas had the audience
on its knees.
