│ [WHY THIS IS NOT A BOOTLEG] │
│ Due to the poorly worded and totally inclear new rules regarding │
│ socalled "bootlegs," I have chosen instead of adding -BOOTLEG- │
│ to the dirname for fear of a nuke, to simply explain why this │
│ release it NOT a bootleg. │
│ First, let's define bootleg: │
│ v.tr. │
│ To produce, distribute, or sell without permission or │
│ illegally. (a clandestine outfit that bootlegs compact discs │
│ and tapes. │
│ In the case of a release name, a bootleg would be defined as │
│ having come from a source which was produced without the │
│ artist(s) consent or approval. In the case of a mix cd such as │
│ this, the ARTIST would be considered the mixer of the tracks, │
│ NOT the individual tracks original artist(s). │
│ The artist field here is Nick Catchdubs, after all. │
│ I'm not trying to market this as being anything more or less. │
│ │
│ Tagging this as a BOOTLEG would be wrong and would quite simply │
│ prevent it from being spread. The entire reason I release what │
│ I do is so more people can hear the music I like. Being forced │
│ to misrepresent the music simply to not be nuked is insane. │
│ │
│ Nuking is intended to stop bad packs and illegitimate releases. │
│ This is neither. The proof of that is right here in this file. │
│ │
│ This is a self-released CD from Catchdubs, SOLD ON HIS OWN │
│ WEBSITE. It is NOT a bootleg and so, if this release is nuked, │
│ it will stay nuked. I will not abide by a rule which so │
│ blatantly misrepresents and misunderstands the facts. │
│ Admit that the rule is far too broad, and change it. │
