if you've heard anything by alphawezen, you've probably asked
yourself "self, who is the mastermind behind all of this great
stuff?" the answer may surprise you because alphawezen is actually
none other than aeric (in real-life ernst wawra), the underground
all-star from aachen. ernst has been turning his emotions and
thoughts into music since he was 15 and has worked under many
different names and with many different projects. early ernst
efforts display his mastery of syncopation and breakbeats. in 1997
the drum n' bass 12" "kommissa" from the trigger project (aeric,
dj coma, and stevie b) blew up, especially in hamburg. things
really got rolling for ernst when he signed as aeric to ladomat to
present his definition of minimal house music.
his first ladomat single "toute faτon" made history with the now
famous lo-tech video featuring a headless woman, a refrigerator
and lots of looping.
