▓▓██████▓▓▌ ▐▓▓██████▓▓
▐▓███████▓▓ When London expatriate Malcolm Cross moved to ▓▓███████▓▌
▓▓███████▓▓ Los Angeles to drum for Brit-rock combo Minibar, ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ he collected his feelings and reflections on the ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ experience in his solo project recordings, under ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ the name Morello (after drummer Joe Morello of ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ the Dave Brubeck Quartet). From homesickness to ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ loathing and, ultimately, to love of its odd ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ charms, Cross chronicles his Golden State ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ relocation. The album features guest appearances ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ from his Minibar bandmates, as well as the ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ Jukebox Junkies, Gingersol, and even Pamela Des ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ Barres. There's a colorful palette of styles, ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ from feel-good roots pop complete with fiddle ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ accompaniment on "Turnaround" to the soulful ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ horn section enlivening "Say You're On My Side". ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ Minimal is a lighthearted and accomplished ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ musical tribute to L.A., with a vibe akin to ▓▓███████▓▓
▓▓███████▓▓ Josh Rouse's 1972. ▓▓███████▓▓
