With today's VFX production getting demanding and ambitious - yet the
schedule and budgets are getting tighter, its apparent that the next
generation of Producers need to be VFX savvy more than ever to manage
and deliver the shows on time and on budget. Increasingly independent
filmmakers utilizing visual effects in their films by tapping into VFX
teams globally are realizing the need to have a VFX producing hat on in
order to do this successfully.
This is a course for anyone interested in the field of visual effects
production management or who is currently looking to make the step up
into VFX producing whether you are an VFX Co-coordinator, assistant or
even a VFX Artist looking to make the transition into the VFX
management side of things. By the end of the course you would have had
the knowledge and hands on experience with ftrack to do just that.
Course members will receive an extended license of ftrack to try out
commercially on projects they embark on during or after the course.
Hasraf æHaZÆ Dulull is a VFX Supervisor / VFX Producer with several VES
award nominations to his name. Having worked on feature films,
Broadcast series and TVCÆs, he recently transitioned into Directing
with the success of his sci-fi short film æProject KronosÆ, earning him
representation in Hollywood where he is currently in development on
various feature film projects.

Class 1
In this class we break down the individual roles involved in VFX
production before diving into a fully loaded VFX Database project where
I break down in detail how a vfx project is managed through ftrack
referring to the various everyday tasks carried out by VFX Coordinators
and VFX Producers using FTrack.
Class 2
In this we begin to create our VFX Database using FTrack by setting up
the Sequences, shots and tasks and breaking down a VFX edit in the
process.
Class 3
Uploading material for internal or client review. Setting up dailies
within ftrack and reviewing shots while providing succinct notes and
annotation quickly.
Class 4
This class looks into setting up dailies using lists, reviewing shots,
taking down notes / annotation and a look at the new feature in ftrack
called Client Review. This class also comes with a goodie pack of
dailies versions of shots from the short film- Drones for you to use as
material to upload as part of your database project in ftrack.
Class 5
This class looks at the process of Scheduling and Planning in Ftrack.
This is more focused on the VFX Coordinator role, but also essential
production tips for anyone producing projects which needs scheduling
and planning of resources.
Class 6
In this class we look at several ways to customize the Ftrack
spreadsheet to make it more like Google-docs or a typical excel
spreadsheet for tracking tasks and progress. We also dive into the
powerful filters feature in Ftrack.
Class 7
In this class we look into the one of the many tasks carried out by the
VFX Co-ordinator or project producer when generating project reports
and status updates to the Head of Production using FTrack's powerful
report and dashboard feature.
Class 8
This class focuses on the crucial task of script breakdown and the
various everyday tasks required from VFX producers when bidding on
projects.
Class 9
We bring the material you generated from Class 08 into ftrack. We focus
on importing your vfx bid into ftrack to speed up production and
setting up your vfx database from the bid, while also covering
additional production coordinating tips.
Class 10
In the last class of the series we look at setting sequences in ftrack
via an editorial conform in The Foundry's Hiero using ftrack launcher,
before delving into how to actually get work in vfx production. We also
look into what entails in the role of being a Production VFX producer
(also known as client side VFX Producer) when dealing with multiple
facilities tendering bids.
