Miami house stalwart Greg "Chinese Jamaican like a" Chin has been on
a roll lately, with everyone from Paul Van Dyke to King Britt bigging
up his beats. On "Shadows of Blue", he keeps his sterling reputation
intact, delivering a diverse and quality three track house EP. The A
side cut "Love You Forever" is a gorgeous chilled tech house groove
that effortlessly straddles the deep house and trance divide. Classic
old school Chicago beats combine with dramatic strings, other worldy
Tangerine Dream style synth ambiance and a catchy vocal hook to
create a gorgeous new age house groove that comes off sounding like a
Finger's Inc. remix of Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells". On the B1 cut
"Fallen" Mr. Chin gets down and dirty, turning out a wicked and
warped acid track which is sure to go down a storm with fans of his
mind blowing remix of A:xus' classic " When I Fall in Love".
Mercifully, Greg cools down the pace on "Espero" (B2) a beautiful
synth led ambient soundscape complete with ominous Seal "esque"
vocals. "Trance " music without the cheesy beats, what a beautiful
concept.
Note : there has been a release from EMP of this vinyl already, but
it was nuked as it was incomplete -> it only had 2 of the 3 tracks.
