The Bleeding Nature duet (Lev Vasilets: music, lyrics, vocal and
Piotr Bordachyov: violin) started out in February, 2004 as a
darkwave band but this situation didn't last, as they set on a quest
for new sound. As a result of these early experiments a mini-album
was released by Neuropempire Records Moscow record label. Meanwhile,
Bleeding Nature gave several concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg
and supported stars of independent electronic music Melotron and
Apoptygma Berzerk during their visits to Russia.But the newly
released mini-album with synth/future pop sound didnÆt satisfy the
musicians and encouraged them to further continue their quest. As a
result, the band completely abandoned sometime fascinating synthpop
tunes and underwent a period of soul-searching to come back with
fresh, "winter" musical concept. The Bleeding Nature sound became
more melancholic and steady. During the first two autumn months
Vasilets composed most of the tracks for what was to become their
new album so the work on a new full-scale album commenced soon,
while Russian leading Sojuz Music record label concluded a contract
with the band. Renowned vocalist of Moscow ScreenSaver band (which
at present has ceased to exist) Alexandr Tomin also took part in the
work on a new record. Currently he also performs back vocal parts
and holds position of the band co-producer.
Each season has its own fairytale. Summer sun, autumn rains, spring
winds whisper us their strange stories but only some of us can hear
them. Cold aesthetics of frosty windowsÆ transparency, snowy forests
and winter icy winds brings back discontinuous memories and makes it
possible to look deeper into ourselves. Childhood worries, adult
cogitation, inner reflections distinctively come out on inviolate
surface of snow-covered fields, bringing vague and unstable images
to life. Blizzard whisper, wind rustle among fir branches bent by
snow burden, dim street lamp light have told us their story - and
this is what "My Winter", Bleeding Nature new album, is about.
