Release Notes:
Lujo Records was founded in 2001 by Lousiana native, Erik Aucoin,
for his love of music and growing urge to do something in an
otherwise quiet town flanked by swamps and gators. Inspired by
labels founded in the DIY ethic such as Dischord, Touch & Go, Jade
Tree, and Lovitt. Erik began by contacting his favorite musical
luminaries Jeff Bettger (Suffering & The Hideous Thieves), Shelby
Cinca (Frodus), and Nathan Burke (Frodus) inquiring to work with
said artists. His enthusiasm and soon to be proven credentials
brought such artists quickly into the fold. In 2002, Lujo overcame
near downfall due to a short dealing with a well-intentioned
non-profit organization that capsized. Wading through the
wreckage, energies were refocused in order to remain 100%
independent for label stability and creative control. After this
brief learning experience, Lujo quickly gained an formidable track
record with the subsequent 10 releases which exponentially began
to grow at a rapid pace helping spread the label name and
expanding the roster.
Recent years saw Lujo releasing such critically acclaimed records
for bands such as: Fall Of Troy, Suffering & The Hideous Thieves,
Baby Teeth, Ateriavia, The Out_Circuit, and many more. In 2004,
Erik relocated his base of operations to Washington, DC to extend
his influences into the governing forces, quietly working from the
inside to prove that listening to records on Lujo is good for
health, well-being, and general cultural revolution. It may be
duly noted that Lujo, which is a Spanish word pronounced
"lou-hoe", means high-quality or luxurious and this ethic goes
into every release from composition, design, to sound. We welcome
you to listen and become a part of the Lujo legacy.
